Janet Fons Palette Knife Paintings
Come Join the fun!
Painting without using a brush can help loosen up your work and build great texture. I will be demonstrating how to paint with a palette knife on April 21st at Grafica Contemporary Fine Art Gallery in Webster Groves. Lary and Lynn Bozzay welcome art lovers every third Thursday to watch, listen, learn and discuss different art related topics. The demo will run from 5:30 until 7:30. Wine and cheese provided.

Palette Knife Painting

"Edge of the Ocean", oil, 14x11. This painting showing thunderheads building over the ocean is inspired by many hours spent looking out over the ocean, marveling at its absolute vastness. This one-of-a-kind original artwork is painted with a palette knife creating wonderful texture.

I read an interesting blog post by Heidi Harner the other morning about abstract vs. representational art. She said her favorite way of describing abstract art is "like music without lyrics"...to read the post click here.

Come see this wonderful abstract mixed media painting Garnet Coded by Portland artist David Castle at the 2015 Small Works Invitational at OA Gallery.

Two New Commissions by Janet Fons

I recently delivered these two custom paintings to Grafica Fine Art who commissioned them for a designer client for delivery to a residential customer. Word is designer and client are very happy! It is always a pleasure to create custom artwork.
Many thanks to Lynn and Lary Bozzay at Grafica Fine Art & Custom Framing.

Save the Date for My Upcoming Solo Exhibition

Artist, Janet Fons, of St. Peters, MO will present “Point of Departure” at Grafica Fine Art in Webster Groves from October 26 through November 30.  An opening reception will be held for the artist on Friday, October 26 from 5 to 8 pm.

Clearing Storm, Oil on canvas, 30x30

With a limited palette, harmonizing hues and a play of light, landscape artist Janet Fons offers us an escape from the constraints of reality art and a means to explore the emotions nature stirs in each of us.  We are encouraged to leave behind the superficiality of the material world and allow ourselves to revel in the beauty that surrounds us.

A New Home for 9 Paintings by Janet Fons!

I recently had a whopper of a sale through my gallery, Grafica Contemporary Fine Art (Webster Groves, MO). Their client was an architecture firm re-doing an entire floor at the St. Louis Club in Clayton Missouri. The client bought EIGHT of my current available paintings and commissioned a NINTH piece to be painted to a custom size (30x48 inches). WOW is all I can say. One sale is exciting enough...this one is thrilling.

My paintings feature in the Louisiana Room if you ever get a chance to visit this beautiful space. I wish I had taken some photos of the bar/lounge area that you walk into off the elevator...the place is stunning. However, having tunnel vision at the time, I only took photos of my paintings in the room they were hanging in which I will share below. If I haven't said it enough already: many, many thanks to Lynn and Lary Bozzay at Grafica Contemporary Fine Art. BTW, the framing was also done by Grafica. Enjoy!
